How to read your result
Each card above matches one stick and one test. These are the metrics you will see and what each number means:
- Centre deviation: how far the stick sits from the exact centre when you release it. This is the main drift indicator. Reference: up to 2 % is fine, up to 3 % tolerable, and above that it is out of spec.
- Signal noise: how much the reading trembles while the stick is still. Up to 0.5 % is fine and up to 1.5 % tolerable; higher than that points to a dirty or worn sensor.
- Maximum excursion: the largest movement recorded during the resting test. On a healthy controller, with the stick released, it should be minimal.
- Circularity error: how far the edge traced by the stick departs from a perfect circle. Up to 5 % is fine and up to 10 % tolerable. A very low error, below 5 %, can mean the controller is applying internal compensation.
- Gate shape: whether the stick's maximum travel is circular (~1.00, the norm) or square (~1.41, reaching the corners). It helps tell real wear from the factory gate shape.
- Circle coverage: how much of the edge you managed to trace. At least 90 % is needed for the circularity test to be valid.
